How would you define “finishing well”? In cycling, planning a strategy for your finish is considered one of the most important tactical elements in an event. How do you see your “finish”? Would it entail being surrounded by family and loved ones as the story of your life comes to its conclusion? Would it be having an awesome bucket list that has had every item accomplished? Perhaps it might mean leaving a lasting legacy for the generations that come after you?
Over seven billion different hopes and dreams are being pursued at this very moment. Inevitably, most will be left unfulfilled, and many of those that are achieved will soon be forgotten, but does it have to be that way?
There is one legacy that will outlast all others, the legacy of a purposeful life lived in relationship with the author of life, Jesus Christ. Through Christ, our lives have purpose and significance far beyond ourselves, for the Lord gives our lives eternal purpose.
The journey to finishing well can start today. I encourage you to take the first steps of faith and open the door for Jesus. Is there room in your life to let him in? Jesus says,
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.”
